There is a really nice article in the new FSM about the Forums, which got me thinking about how much I really enjoy them. There are no modelling groups in my town and none of my freinds are modelers, so I really have no one to talk to. I really love having a place to talk about things, ask questions and get tips. Plus complements on my models mean so much more than the "that's very nice" I get from the wife. Thanks everyone

I totally agree, you all are the most helpful and nicest people ever. Someone knows an an answer to any question you could possibly ask about anything concerning modelling. Going along with the ''thats nice'' from your wife, I built a HORRIBLE, absolutely horrible, model a couple of years ago and my parents, bless them, said things like wow, looks good, and great job. It was a horrible model, spots of the plastic showing, gun couldn't elevate...

I agree. Even though I do have a club to go to, I still enjoy posting pics of my work here to see what people think. Hearing great comments from the people on these Forums is so motivating for me. Nothing beats being able to share your hobby passion with good friends!

We're all one big modeling family here. Big Smile [:D] It's nice to have other people to talk to about our hobby, even if our spouses are interested (my wife's very interested in my models, for which I'm grateful).

But it's nice to have other people like ourselves to ask questions of and get support from. *sniff sniff* You guys are great!

I am in the same boat Jwest no one I know is interested remotely in what I do and my girl friend bless her heart is supportive of me and my hobby but I to get the "thats nice" phrase as well, my mother always had something against models when I was growing up she felt it was a waste of money, but know that Im in college and on my own I am as free to build as many as I can afford and still keep the lights on and food in my belly, man college is hard times.

I've been to other forums and sites around the 'net dealing with our particular hobby of interest but none of them have the same community feel that is present here. The spirit of comraderie and general friendliness along with the willingness to help and provide resources when needed/available is a big factor in why I like being here so much. The GBs, the pooled knowlege, the common spirit and encouragement, those are all things that set this forum apart in my opinion.

The level of pooled knowledge of facts and history, the wealth of reference material and all the tips is simply amazing. I post a question and within an hour, I get a bunch of helpful answers By the way, jessiah, were do you find all the free time in college, what with studying (yeah right!) and parties??

The FSM forum! Great site, good people, common interests, even some pretty funny threads. I feel that we pretty much respect one anothers inputs and even issues of disagreement seem to be handled in a pretty civil way. I have to say I spend alot of my time learning about this hobby from viewing and reading the inputs each of you contributes to this forum. It is a product of each of you, and it's first class. semper fi, mike

To me the FSM Forums, are like one big world wide modeling family that is willing to help or encourage its members when required, and all you have to do is ask.
Wayne I enjoy getting older, especially when I consider the alternative.

I will have to add my "ditto" to the above posts. I too live in BFE and there is no one around that shares my interest, so the LHS likewise has the same 3 kits he always has. THis place is a true godsend that lets someone like me hone his skills through posts and critisism. My wife looks at what I do, and like you all, she gives the usual 10 second inspection with a "Wow, that looks nice" along with the blank stare of total disinterest. This forum provides some incouragement along the way.

BTW, I am going to Atlanta next summer and hope to meet a couple of you fine folks there.

It was a very pleasant surprise to see the new Forums section in the magazine. It's about time that we got our due credit. The Finescale.com site, with these forums, is a great complement to the magazine, and an amazing place to be.

You guys realy do make a difference. There is no modleing clubs around me either and also none of my firneds realy do modeling and if they do they arent realy serious. Its good to have a place to go to get any question answered. And its good where i dont have to ask the guy at my hobbyshop all the time. Even thoguh he is a grerat help too.
I would jsut like to say thank you to all of you.
IF you can't beat them then they are not tied down properly

Couldn't agree more. It's the people that really set this forum apart.

Well Jwest I am a History Major w/ a minor in Physical Education , I am a total health nut I run 5 miles a day and make fitness my number one priority so I don't really drink or party much at all because my girl and I live off campus, along w/ studying I work in the hobby whenever I can , before I can touch a model I make myself pick up a book and study for at least one hour and then an hour of my current project It keeps me saneTongue [:P]

Hehheh jessiah that sounds like a great study plan! Any specific area in history you are focusing on? I got my degree in history with a minor in secondary education, spent 3 years teaching, and now work as a project logistics manager for an outsourcing company. It's still amazing how much of my degree training gets used everyday even though I'm working in a highly technical environment.

It's a good thing I have this job or else I wouldn't have time to keep up with all the words of wisdom here in the Forums. God Bless Uncle Sam and thank you, (at least the US members) for paying your taxes so that I may continue to indulge myself here. heh heh heh
