Abrams anti skid

Yes the Tam does not have it but the Revell does,so go figure.Anyway thanks for all the help and I will definetly check the pics out.As far as chemicaly softening try white glue and talcum powder .If it does not work at least you know the tank will never chafe

Tamiya and Academy (since their kit was a Tamiya copy) are the ones who did not add it. Dragon, Trumpeter and Italeri all added the non-slip coating to the Abrams upper surfaces.

I would go with the above diagrams, as they clearly demonstrate where to apply the coatings. I'm just curious as to why so many manufacturers overlook this. I build the Trumpeter M1A2 kit, and I know that all of theirs have this coating allready moulded in.

If you visit my motor pool, in the Abrams album there are photos showing the older, less rough surface and the newer, more uniform rougher surface.

I'll hunt up a diagram I have (If Major Rob don't beat me) and post it.

Oh ya, the top of the turrent, and the front deck of the A2 is rough, it kinda looks like asphault. Were the drivers hatch opens and slides across the front deck is smooth, and the front fenders dont have it. I think the best way to simulate this would be to soften the plastic chemicaly and use a stippling brush to rough up the plastic.I just had about 40 of them sitting outside of my window, but it looks like they have left for parts unknown. If they come back I will get some shots for you.

anti skid surface? never heard of anything like that.
