Somebody please start one of these GBs!
Posted by rebelreenactor on Monday, August 30, 2004 6:43 PM
I just wanted to get these ideas out so that if somebody wanted to start them they could. I dont want to start them, to much of a hassel. But if I have to I will. But dont worry, these wouldn't start until AT LEAST February. These are My 3 top ideas
I think they would make great Gbs.

AA GB
Anti Tank GB
under new onwership GB-different paint schemes i.e. M4 in german stuff.

What do you guys think?

I posted the idea for the under new ownership or Gotta new job build captured, second hand or civilianized equipment) awhile back but didn't get alot of response except sounds neat but I don't have time. I was thinking of trying again after New Years since that seems to be open.

The other two sound good as well but I'll leave those for others to run.

I think the under new ownership build is interesting. Wonder what reference material is out there- that would be the one obstical I could think of

There are a fair number of examples of captured vehicles in service, some are just photos but the US and Britain used some German equipment that was fairly well documented. I was also intending the build to include such things as fighters converted to civilian air racers, bombers converted for firefighting or executive transport, and post war "recycling", Israeli Shermans, Super Shermans, Syrian Panzer 4's and ships such as the USS Phoenix / General Belgrano would also be appropriate.

So I wouldn't expect a whole lot of research to be required although it would lend itself to those who wanted to do extensive research.

The recycled GB sounds good. Any idea of a time scale?

I would be interested in any of the above, but maybe you could specialise a bit more. ie
- Towed Anti-tank and AA gun's
- Self propelled AA Guns (M16, M4 skink, Wirblewind, Mobelwagon, etc)
- Self propelled Anti-tanks guns

Any self propelled ANti Tank gun or tank destroyer.

for AA Sdkfz 10/5 /4, M16 with quads, wirblwind.... any aa

If we did a recycled GB, I would be doing a Sdkfz 251/1 ausf d under US command.

I also though about a half track GB, WWII to Vietnam, any scale .

Rebel, why don't you make a thread for a recycled GB in the main forums?

i got a great build for the anti-tank GB. and it'll only take me two or thee hours!! PANZERFAUSTS!! I got a couple of (more like a thousand) panzerfausts, and four panzershrecks up my sleeve!! plus that lite pak gun from tamiya. accutally, I started this out as a joke, but it actually looks kinda good... course the nationality of my builds might have a few a'the sherman buffs out there shakin'a'bit...
hehehehehe.....

I have been thinking of this myself, and once my current projects will be finished (or at least nearly...) I'll do a "new ownership"- dio, I've got this great pic of two British airmen repainting a Stuka while there is a painted sign leaning against the undercarriage saying "Under completely new management"

Offcourse that's under "Aircraft"
