Spruce Antennas
Posted by capt6811 on Monday, April 28, 2003 12:25 PM
I still haven't mastered the art of stretching spruce to make antennas. The telephone tech was in the station working on the trunk lines and he removed some old wiring. I looked at the old wiring and it looks like a good match for making antennas. The wiring comes in different colors and if you strip the plastic casing off it actually fits in the antenna mounts. I am going to try this on my LVTP7A1. If anyone as any thoughts or comments please let me know.
Thanks; sstcapt - Michael

I use my nephew's broken guitar strings, they're very tough and about the right scale for 1/35 vehicles.

Go to the local hardware store and pick up a cheap paintbrush with vinyl whiskers ..... you'll have enough antenna to last a lifetime.

Thanks for the input. Never thought about vinyl whiskers, guitar strings and copper wire. - good ideas.
Just to let you know I placed the first antenna on. I was off a little on the size but the smallest drill bit did the trick. Thanks again for the info.

Finished placing the antennas on my amtrac.
Doesn't look too bad. The wire does bend pretty
easy so you have to be careful when placing it on
the vehicle.
***Another important note - The cat likes them too!!!!
