pat-man

Markings for Commonwealth and British WW II Vehicles were the same as their American counterparts... to a degree. In true Canadian fashion sometimes the Star was painted on crooked to show it was a Canadian Unit not an American.

As far as markings available check out www.quartermastersdepot.com for decals available or check for johnny canuck images on line.

You can use the kit supplied decals by referring to the web site Maple Leaf Up. I don't have their web address right here but it's a great site for reference with lots of extra links.

If you want a great figure for the driver of your jeep check out www.ultracast.com these are the best Canadian figures out there.

A final bit of reference to check for or find a copy of is British Commonwealth Transport World War II it is an older booklet from Almark Publications but it is packed with great reference for all soft skin vehicles used by Canada and the Commonwealth. I recently bought a copy on eBay and it is definitely worth finding.

I hope this helps. If you need anything further please email me and I will scan any of the references I have to assist in your build.

Cheers;

Gregory

You can't go wrong by putting a " Star" on your vehicle .On D-Day ,numerous Allies ( French, Poles , Canadians, etc. )had a " Star" , some had a solid cicle , or a " broken" circle around them , on a variety of vehicle 's, mainly on the top side as an air recognition sign . In the the Korean War , I have seen numerous pics , of Canadian , British , and Allied vehicles , with the White Star. I have a model of a Centurion MK III , representing a British Cent' , in Korea , you would not believe , how many times , I have been asked , " Did the Americans , use Centurions !"Check your referances , and you won't go wrong.

I highly doubt the authenticity of those pictures, as the front bumper is wearing the maple leaf.

Canada used the dominion flag until 1969

M1abramrules - Chris

While you are correct on the fact that Canada was under the Dominion Flag until Pearson's Pennant became our national flag.

The Maple Leaf on the front bumper is a Divisional Marking and the use of the Maple Leaf was a common practice with many variations for each division.

Maybe it came from "The Maple Leaf Forever" the predecessor of our Canadian National Anthem. Either way the reference photo's are correct.
