That's what I'm looking for. Criticism is the key to advancement.

Peridexion, Thanks for your inout, I studied a bunch of photos and it seemed that some had Notek lights and some didn't. I figured I would add mine anyway.

falcon039, I checked out those pics. Thanks.

Thanks to all for your comments. But please, let me know if I need to fix something. Heavyarty, Woweee, let me have it. I want to fix my flubs before I paint. It's a little too late once I fire up the Binks or the Iwata.

Thanks,

Ted

Hey Ted, I dont know if they will help you out or not. But I have some pics of a schwimmwagen on the reference forum. It would be on page four in the U.S. Army Ordnance Museum topic.

Both factory drawings for the type 128 and the type 166 Schwimmwagens show the Notek light, so one might assume these were originally factory installed. (Like I did before further research proved otherwise.) According to page 44 of VW at War, by Michael Sawodny, the Notek light was not standard equipment on the Schwimmwagen and was added in the field.

Here are a few shots of my almost completed Schwimmy. As always, please let me know what to fix before I paint. I am a big boy and can take it. I know I need to add the wires on the boot latches. Other than that I am almost ready to paint.

Hope you guys like.

Hello, I am currently working on a Tamiya 166 Schwimmwagen. It's a really nice model. I am also using the Verlinden set for it and it is also excellent. My question is in regards to the Notek light. I have read through several reference books and looked online, but can't seem to see if the Notek was factory installed or field installed. The photos I have show a 50/50 balance and would like you guys input. Also, I am about to the point of paint and am torn between grey and yellow. Unfortunately, my reference photos are all in black and white and I can't decern between the two colors. What do you guys think? What color should I go with. I will probably prime either tonight or in the morning. I have a brand new bottle of Tamiya paint in both base colors. I even have a fresh batch of grey oils that I mixed up for my Stug (Which is sitting waiting to cure up). I plan on putting it in a waterside vignette with 2 figures. one seated and one getting the prop prepared to drop in the water. While I am on this subject, should I remove the back seats? the Verlinden set gives an option for this, but I don't know what circumstances that this would have taken place. Sorry for all the questions, but one has got to learn sometime.
