1/72 Scale Vehicle Steering Wheels
Posted by Model Grandpa on Friday, September 10, 2004 12:14 PM
I have recently purchased some 1/72 scale Hasegawa vehicles kits. While these small kits seem nicely detailed for something this size one thing that jumps out at me is the steering wheels that seem grossly out of scale. Is there anything other then filing and sanding that you can do to bring them into scale?

As always, Thanks for any help.

Try using stretched sprue. While it is stretching, wrap it wround something the same diameter as the wheel you need. Then cut it so it has formed a ring. Remove the old outer wheel portion of the steering wheel and replace with the thinner stretched sprue ring.

It may take some trial and error to get the thickness and diameter right but the raw materials are free.
