TKS Tankette finally finished
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 3:15 AM
I've finally finished my 1/35 Polish TKS tankette (Mirage kit). It took quite a long
time for such a small model, mainly because I was working on a number of other models
at the same time!

The model represents a pre-war vehicle, wartime vehicles had the colourful tactical markings on the
side painted out, as far as I know.
The figure is from a Heller French tank kit (I believe Polish and French soldiers/crew
had fairly similar uniforms and helmets, from pictures I've seen.. can anyone correct me on this)?

The TKS kit itself is like most Mirage/RPM AFVs, cleanly moulded and quite nicely detailed, but it
really needs an interior (I didn't add any as I have no reference pics) and the tiny independent track
links are a real pain to fit on correctly. The model is out of the box other than the top hatch which I
modified to the open position (as shown on the box art).

This picture shows the TKS along with the French Renault UE (also Mirage), a Jeep (Revell), Kubelwagen
(Italeri) and Kettenkraftrad (Tamiya) to give an idea of size :)

Very nice job. It is so cute that I want to hold it and hug it and squeeze it and call it George.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Building the indies on that one must have produced some serious eye-strain!

Nice work on such a tiny subject, the perspective with the other vehicles is a nice bonus as well. Big Smile [:D]

Looks really good. Those small vehicles are hard work. Can you imagine any of them in 1/72?
