On painting my Panther.
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 6:41 AM
Right now I am working on my Dragon 1/35th Panther A late and was wondering what Model Master enamel would closely match the RLM Sandy Brown 79 that they are asking for. If you have a website that I can go to, that would be great too. Again thanx for your help. Bryan

They are referring to either a Dunkelgelb or Sandgelb Falcon. You could use Tamiya's X-60 Dark Yellow, Model Masters Panzer Dunkelgelb 1943 or Model Masters Afrika Braun 1942. You could also use Model masters Sandgelb lightened with Dunkelgelb. I prefer Tamiya's Dark Yellow as I personally feel it is a close match to the actual RAL.

Mo's got you covered! The MM enamel set has the Dunkelgelb, Olivgrun, and Schokoladenbraun as their colors for the '43 three-tone camo. Many feel the Schokoladenbraun is too dark and needs to have some MM Rust added to make it more reddish. I use it straight as the weathering process for me usually lightens rather than darkens the paint scheme.

Thanx guys for the help. Hopefully I can get it finished here shortly so I can post it. This is my first armor kit in a long time and the Panther is one of my many favorite german WWII armor subjects. Bryan
