That would be the XM 2001 Crusader. Go to www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/index.html and you will find some more pix and computer animated stuff and even movies on it. Here is another pic of it firing.

Very interesting. Too bad it isn't going forward. Looks like a very sophisticated piece of machinery. It'd be interesting to scratchbuild one with the resupply vehicle.

Yep, rather impressive piece of equipment. The capabilities were astounding, but costs were even more so. Too bad, it would have revolutionized field artillery.

Donald Rumsfeld doesn't like it because it represents Legacy thinking.

It didi have a rather unfortunate name for our current military operations, though. Maybe that's why they cancelled it. Smile [:)]

An excellent platform designed to fight the type of warfare that we don't see (much) of any more...that and the per item cost killed it. Tough combination but not the first such weapons platform to meet such a fate.

I see that this would replace the M109 Paladin. Is there a Paladin model out there?

Yes, Italeri does an excellent model of the M109A6 Paladin in 1/35 scale.

You can get it on sale now at http://www.greatmodels.com/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=it372
