Tamiya is too busy with their 1/48 and Pre-made super kits to worry about the vast majority of us armor modelers. Disapprove [V]Angry [:(!]

Maybe he's thinking about the new long-nosed UK version with the new trailer?

Ya'll will be surprized by this:I know that you can get a model kit of a Freightliner Truck and convert it into what you see on that post of the 1070.Four years ago Freightliner Corp under bid all truck manufacters to build this military trucks. They used old trade in OTR trucks and refurbished them for the military in order to cut cost and to sell them to the military. The military bought the ideal and the first ones to come out where the FLD 120 model class 8 trucks to the military. These were unarmored trucks used for rear area supply lines.Freightliner framed out to Hemitt to build the armor ones for the front line supplys off exsetting chasices. All you have to do is to find a Freightliner truck at 35 scale and modifiy the cab's exterior to match.Digger

Really? Shows what I know. Blush [:I] I never saw any at Schofield Barracks when I was there in 1996, only the usual HMMWVs and 5-tons. Not much use for them there, though: it was an infantry battallion.

Thanks for the pictures, Rob, those are great!

I've got one here at work (real truck, not model). One of the local members of my IPMS club bought the Accurate Armor kit and came by to show me it. I let him take a few rolls of film of the HET.

I posted some shots of the truck & trailer in my motor pool gallery. The link to it is in my signature block.

Yeesh!!! As much as I'd love one, I'd rather spend $100US on it than $450!! I took a look at their site, and it sure is a nice kit, though.

I figure it's only a matter of time before somebody else makes one (too bad I'm not very patient Tongue [:P]).

A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

As long as it has rubber/vinyl tires and good (i.e. accurate) detail, I don't care that much who makes it (although I have a preference for Tamiya).

I love heavy truck kits; 5-tons, duece-and-a-halfs, HEMTTs, etc. Well, I was browsing around the internet and found Oshkosh's website (the company that make the HEMTT series vehicles). Holy crap! Their new M1070 HET makes the old M26 Tank Recovery Vehicle ("Dragon Wagon") look like a toy!

Go here: http://www.oshkoshtruck.com/defense/products~het~home.cfm
and click on the video link (it's long, so might require a high-speed connection).

Forgot to mention...it's capable of carrying the M1-series tanks, M2 and M3 Bradleys, the M109 and M110 howitzers, etc. WOW!

Anyone from Tamiya listening? Big Smile [:D]
