Amphibious Stuarts
Posted by ga.retread on Friday, October 1, 2004 9:57 PM
I was watching a program on The History Channel this afternoon. It was a special on the "amphibious" tanks used on D-Day. Mostly concerned the DD Shermans, but they also showed the Shermans fitted with the snorkels. In amongst the Shermans were some Stuarts also fitted with snorkels.

This is the first time I have seen this version of the Stuart, and I wonder if anyone has a conversion of this model or if anyone has ever scratchbuilt one?

I would really like to add one of these to my collection, so if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.Cool [8D]

Actually, you probably want to look at the books geared towards armor of the Pacific. I believe someone made photo etched wading trunks for a Stuart tank. They were quite common in the island hopping campaigns and used by both the Army and Marines.
