Congratulations Major, and I salute you! Thank you for serving, you're doing a great job.

Make mine a Guinness as well, only I want an Imperial pint! Then I'll chase it with some smooth Jack Daniel's Old No.7.

Congratulations Major Gino! As a retired Lieutanant Commander, USN, I welcome you to the ranks of "Field Grade Officer".....for whatever it is worth. It's a raise in pay, no matter what else. Big Smile [:D] And you're on a different list for housing now, too.

Anyway, hoist a cold one for me, and a toast for all the O-4's past, present and future. And remember, artillery brings the battlefield dignity to what would be an otherwise bar room brawl (or at least, that's what I got from my Aussie arty officer classmate at CGSC - the best year of my life - HOOAH!).

Congratulations !!!

You do realize you have achieved the most useless rank in the US Army, unless you are in a Bn S-3 or Bn XO slot ?? Other than that, you can only be some staff puke and be forced to spend 9 months at Ft Leavenworth for CGSC.

Cheer up, it only hurts for what now, 5-6 years?, then you'll make LTC and be respected & useful again. <grin>

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt .... and believe me, go for both the S-3 and XO slots -- great training & fun !!!

Again, congrats & Guinness will do fine ...

Still "playing" in the Sand Box? Or do they allow Field Grades to play in the sand?Bow [bow]

Congrats from an old Viet Nam vet who also managed to make it to the exalted rank of major (Air Force). Unfortunately, I only got to bask in my newly acquired prestige for a short while. A few months after I started sporting my gold oak leaves, I was assigned to a higher headquarters where majors were mostly used as coffee gofers for generals.
However, I'm happy to report that my promotion party (which was held in the NCO club) was a real blowout!
Drink one for me.
