I built the acadamy kit and as Dwight said it has its inaccuracy but I found no problems with the kit as far as fit. or detail. Has some nice extra goodies as well.

Thanks for sharing these information.

I am not an expert in Shermans but a former member here who is an expert on M4's said that as an OOB kit it is very nice and good. However if you are into accuracy, he said that there is some problems in the rear plate of the hull (I think the slope was wrong or soemthing) that requires a lot of work to correct.

Dragon is about to release a better kit which addresses the said acuracy issues.

I'm putting the finishing touches on mine and I have heard alot of complaints about the quality of the kit. I'm not saying it's great, there are shortcomings such as the angle of the rear hull being to near verticle, the step in the barrel and so on but overall I think it builds into a nice kit. I did replace the turret with a CMD turret and used some PE for the brush guards and switched the track for some 3-cleat I had laying about. My point is I do pretty much the same if it's a Dragon kit, Tamiya or Italeri. I would be curious to hear from others who have built the kit to get their opinion. I see where they are now releasing the USMC version and it appears they corrected the rear hull angle... anyone plan on buying that kit.
