Jagdtiger boo boo
Posted by JWest21 on Friday, October 8, 2004 8:23 PM
I wanted to order an aluminum barrel for my Dragon Jagdtiger. I ordered Hotbarrel's 8.8cm KwK 43/3 L/71 for Jagdtiger 1945. Afterwards I discovered that those guns were only mounted on 4 Jagdtigers and the 128mm Pak 44 L/55 gun was standard. (Guess thats what I get for not doing my research) Anyone have any info on the 88 Jagdtigers? Pictures would be great. Otherwise, I think I will be throwing it in the drawer along with the useless Verlinden Diamond-shaped Panther Zimmerit

Sorry Jason, but to this date, there are no known photos of the 4 confirmed, 7 or 8 total stated, 88mm Jagdtigers built. On May 4th, 1945 Lt. Hans Kippenberg from sPzJgAbt. 653 was ordered to blow up all 7or 8 of them at the Nibelungen Werk because they all lacked gun sights and were therefore useless, thus preventing their capture by US forces. No 88mm armed Jagdtiger ever saw combat.

Is the Revell kit a reboxing of the Dragon kit?

Jwest, you have the most rotten luck when it comes to AM stuff! Sorry to hear you are stuck with another part that doesn't fit. Sometimes I wonder why some AM manufacturers make it so confusing by offering rare/non-existent parts but then I guess it just makes it more interesting from a reasearch perspective. Tongue [:P]

Doesn't change the fact that you are out the cash on a part you can't use though, my condolences in that regard. Big Smile [:D]

Yeah. the luck just isn't there. Maybe I am going to kitbash my own tank. So far it has an 8.8 gun mounted on a Panther with diamond Zimm. Who knows whats next. Luckily this one was on clearance and was only $3. I ordered my Tiger barrel and the Jagdtiger was a spur of the moment deal. Live and Learn. By the way, bill, you made me want to get up on a soap box and complain about all the AM stuff for rare and undocumented tanks.
