Hi guys , my dad and I were discussing doing a "Fall of Berlin" diorama. Since I do mostly Modern Armor , I wanted to know what pieces of American armor were involved during the last days of the Nazi occupation. I have a unopened Academy M-18 Hellcat and was wondering if this vehicle would be an accurate potrayl along with a Tamiya Marder III M let me know what you guys .... uh know.Big Smile [:D]

Well if you are going to do a diorama about the Fall of Berlin specifically then you can't use any US or allied armour. Only Russian.

By the time Berlin fell it was the Soviets that were fighting in the city as the Allies were halted on the Elbe river to the west of the city.

However there were many towns in western Germany taken by the allies that you could base your dio on.

Hope this helps.

I guess I should have been more specific , I meant in that general era of the war was the M-18 in service, I am aware that the russians got there first but that late in the war was the M-18 still being used?

I would think that they would still have been in action with American tank destroyer units at the end of the war. You may want to try and get your hands on a copy Squadron's Tank Destroyers in Action. Although I've not looked through this specific booklet, I have found the photos and histories presented in other ... in Action booklets to be an invaluable resource when building a kit.
