Schwimmwagen Question...
Posted by JCon on Sunday, October 10, 2004 12:07 AM
I just picked up an older 70's style kit by Tamiya of a Kfz 1/20 K2s Schwimmwagen for a very inexpensive price and also have a Tamiya kit of the Schwimmwagen Type 166. Other then the difference in tires I really don't see much difference. Not speaking of the kits (lots more detail in the newer version) but of the actual vehicles what was the real difference between these two vehicles? Was there a difference or is this just a fluke of a numbering system by a model company?Big Smile [:D]

No error.
They are exactly the same vehicle, only "Kfz 1/20" is the Wehrmacht type number, and "Type 166" is VW's internal name for it.
Like "Kfz 1", aka "Kübelwagen", was VW "Type 82".
