M1A1 need help
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, October 10, 2004 12:30 PM
Hello, I am newly returned to modelling and could use a little help.Big Smile [:D]

I want to build a super detailed M1A1 pre- gulf war like the ones I worked on when I was in the military before going over to the gulf. I have a couple of reference books and have looked around on the web, but am having problems finding detailed photos of what I need to remember; certain areas I wanted to detail in depth for that memory to the past (getting kind of hazzy). Any help finding detailed color photos would be appreciated.

In Particular:
Under the skirts and around the tracks and road wheels. (vaguely remember there being something I used to ram my head into all the time).Big Smile [:D]
Back deck with and without deck plates.
Good shots of engine bay, air cleaner v packs and compartment, and battery storage.
With and Without turbine would be helpfull.
Also interior details.

Can anyone please help me

Thank you

PS anti skid diagrams I found on another htread was quite helpfull.

Try these:
http://tanxheaven.com/m1/m1pic.htm
http://tanxheaven.com/m1a1/m1a1pic.htm
http://tanxheaven.com/m1a1/m1a1rob.htm
http://tanxheaven.com/m1a1aim/m1a1aim1.htm

Between them all, there are over 1,000 photos. There should be what you are looking for in there. Good luck with your project.

I've got some older Abrams tanks in my motor pool. Photos are available through the links in my signature block.

Thank you both very much, I think that will cover most of the pictures I was looking for if not all of them. I did see the thing I was looking for under the skirts of the M1A1. The bar that the skirt rests/attatches ? against when they are closed. The only question now is how many per side (one for each skirt door?) and where they are located/welded ? to the hull?

Thank you both again very much..Smile [:)]
