Factory Tour Number Two! Same Warning Applies.
Well, here we are in Factory Tour number 2.
Before we start, I'd like to thank Ron for allowing me to take up so much space in his Gallery. Ron, you are indispensible, and I truly appreciate your generosity to this community, as well as your patience with me!
Now, on with the tour! I got most of the kits painted with a rattle can of Dark Green for their basecoats. While they were drying, I got a lot more done on the Tunguska. Here it is sporting the roadwheels and drive sprockets:
After that, I decided to work on the turret. It started out with five pieces that went together. Here it is drying with the clamp holding two gaps closed:
Then as I read the directions, I noticed it indicated that I needed to cement the cannon/launcher arms to the turrret. Well, I didn't want to do that; I wanted the cannons and missile tubes to move! So, while the turret was drying, I cut off the pins on the cannon/launcher arms, pulled out my trusty pin vise and made two holes; one in each arm where the pins used to be. These are indicated by the arrows in this pic:
After widening the holes, I test fit the brass rod you see in the above pic. Then I took the now-dry turret, and widened the pin holes that were already in the sides of the turret.
I then fit the brass rod through the turret and then placed the cannon/launcher arms on each end of the brass rod. Then I applied CA glue to the outside ends of the brass rod and cannon/launcher arms and 'kicked' it with my zip kicker. I tested the movement afterwards and was happy with the results:
Finally, I built the SAM tubes and mounted them on the outsides of the cannon/launcher arms, and then installed the 57mm gun barrels:
After that, I test fit the turret onto the hull to see how it was going to look:
Pretty nice!
Now I just have to install all the little detail pieces on the main hull and turret, and then build and mount the two radar dishes on the turret and she'll be ready for her basecoat.
Meanwhile, the rest of the kits were drying their basecoats. After all the work above, they were finally dry enough to bring out and photograph:
First, the BRDM 2 Scout Vehicle:
Next, the BRDM with Sagger ATGWs:
Then comes the BTR 60:
And then (Here you go Zokissima!) the T-72 tank:
And finally, my old Panther A:
Well, my car will be fixed tomorrow, so I will end up going back to both jobs again. It may be awhile again before I'll be able to progress any further on these. Believe me, it hurts me more than it hurts you all!
Still, if I am able to get some work done by any slim chance, I'll do my best to post more pics!
Thanks for taking my second Factory Tour. I got burgers for everyone back at the main entrance:
And as a parting gift, you all get:
