Fries 16t Gantry Crane
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 15, 2004 1:14 PM
Hello, I am attempting to draw up my own plans for the Fries 16T gantry crane. I have a few references and also the drawings from the Panther Book Volume IV (I forget the exact series and the author, but the stuff in it is really good). What I would was wondering, was, does anyone have any further reference for this crane? I have exhausted Google and my modest library. If anyone knows of books or websites, I would really appreciate it. I am trying to stay away from the DES model, as I want to try this as a scratch project. Plus, their box art doesn't agree with the drawings I have. Your help is always appreciated. I have said it before, but this is a great forum full of very helpful folks.

Thanks,

Ted

I have more photos of it, but that's about it. There was a diorama on a FSM cover and article several years ago that featured one with a Panther, I don't remember the date though.

Peridexion,

Thanks, iare these photos in books or electronic? I sure would like that issue of FSM. If you think of the date, I will order it from them. Thanks again.

Unfortunately, the photos are scattered throughout all my books, so it's sort a matter of remembering where they are or stubbling across them. I'll go look through my FSM mags and see if I can find the issue with one on the cover. I'll also see if I can find some more pics for you, but this may take a while.

Please don't work too much on my account. Anything you can easily access would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The FSM with the crane on the cover is the May 1999 issue. Not much on the crane in there though. A breif, one page description and a few photos of the model's construction and it finished, that's about all. Haven't had time to find the photos yet.
Here is the FSM photo of the finished model;

Ted- I have the copy of that FSM in front of me. What do you need?
