airbrushing
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, May 8, 2003 9:30 AM
I have just begun to do modeling. I want to start using airbrushes for my painting and saw a Badger 200 for sale, is this a good airbrush for this type of work?

The Badger 200 is a good airbrush if you are starting out airbrushing. It is a single action bottom fed brush. I have one and use it to do mostly basecoating. I use a double action Badger 150 to do most of my other airbrushing (i.e. camo, detail etc.)

I would actually recommend an Aztek airbrush. They are very user friendly, easy to control and very easy to clean.

The Badger 200 is the single action version of the Badger 150. It performs just like the 150 except that to adjust paint flow, you manually preset the needle via a knurled nob at the rear. It is a super airbrush and a fine piece of equipment. I highly recommend it as both a beginner's airbrush and as a general purpose airbrush that you'll probably use as long as you're a modeler. If you buy it and learn to use it, you won't regret your choice.

I disagree with the choice for an Aztek. I have owned two, and both, in my humble opinion, suck royally. My double action broke down faster than a ford truck, and the single action leaks paint out the back end. Go with something better; i would recommend a badger.
