great looking kit,forgive for asking ,but why does it look so blue? is it part of a dio?great looking kit.

The blue tint comes from two factors I think, one being that they were shot outside on a faded black background and two that the lighting was extremely bright and I had the camera on incandescent lighting instead of sunlight...I'm thinking of reshooting the pics as they just don't look right to me.

Thanks Eric! I was extremely unhappy with the first round of pics (got to love digital cameras!) so reshot them indoors after fiddling with the light settings and applying a little more dullcoat to reduce the glare off the faceted armor.

It's meant to be a standalone with the one figure. I may add a base in the future but it will likely stay as it is, do dio plans for this one. I'm still trying to get a handle on figure painting before I tackle dios.

Your build looks great Bill! The only suggestion would be to work on those seam lines on the arms in the future, you figure painting is fine! Figure painting is something I am stuggling with right now also.... Thanks for sharing!

Hey Bill nice model and great pictures also, just need a great base also...put more pictures of the model, more close ups.

Thanks for the suggestion! Tamiya figures are always a bear to work with as they mold them one-piece for the most part...in this case the arms were molded separate in order to pose them correctly and they had a lot of flash and huge seam lines to contend with. Figure painting is still a very new area for me but I figured I'd never get my feet wet if I didn't jump in!

It's tough with my current camera to get true close-up shots, it's an older digital camera and once the depth gets to a certain level, it tends to go blurry as it can't decide what to focus on. Otherwise I'd do just that and post some really close-up shots as some of the detail isn't really observable in the shots I'm able to capture.

As for the DAK finish, this is the first one I've attempted and it was a blast. Primer coat was MM Panzer Gray with basecoat of MM '41 Khakibraun with MM Panzer Gray drybrushed to show the wear and tear from exposure to the harsh N. African environment. This particular kit builds up extremely well (I built two of them side by side, the other with a winter whitewash finish) with the only worry area being where the upper and lower hull join together, you can only get one side to match up correctly, the other will need some sanding/filling attention to look right.
