Well, after much searching I finally found a UK supplier of Aber detail parts, including the Tiger:
http://www.modelkitsupplier.co.uk/model_kit_aber.html

But.. and it's a VERY big but.. the price is £165 for the complete set :o
That's £15 more than I paid for the 3 tanks themselves, including the postage!

Looks like I'll have to stick to scratchbuilding detail from Plasticard..

Still, I hope this info helps out any UK modellers with deeper pockets than me :)

Greetings Drawde,
I have the same problem here in the US. The pickins' are pretty slim when it comes to aftermarket parts in 1/16 scale. I know what you mean about prices in the UK. I make it over to the UK once or twice a year, and I'm always taken aback by what kits costs over there, what with a 17.5 % VAT and all. In spite of the expense, though, scale modeling seems to be extremely popular throughout the UK and Europe.

Here are a couple of websites for vendors that sell aftermarket parts in 1/16, at least in the US. Can't testify to product availability in the UK. Actually, Blacknight's products are in 1/15, but the difference is so slight as to be unnoticible. I'm told that their Tiger I engine will fit in both the Tamiya Tiger I and Tiger II with a bit of modification.

Good luck!

I've just (yesterday) purchased a collection of 3 large-scale AFV models on Ebay - the Tamiya 1/16 King Tiger (static model, not RC), and the "21st Century Toys" 1/18 Tiger and Panther.
I don't really have the space for them, but I just couldn't resist such a bargain - about £130 ($200) for all 3!
This seems extremely good value considering the King Tiger alone costs £200 new even in non-RC form.
The 21st Century tanks (sold pre-assembled) aren't anywhere near the quality and detail of a kit-built model, but I intend to repaint them and add as much exterior and interior detail as I can!

Anyway, my main question is : What sort of aftermarket detail items are available for 1/16 tanks, and where can you
buy them in the UK? (I tried the Hannants website but they don't seem to have any).
I know Aber make a very large and comprehensive photo-etch set for the Tiger (1/16, but I'm guessing most of the parts wouldn't look too overscale on a 1/18 model) but what about the King Tiger?

Normally I steer well clear of aftermarket products, but in this case, I really want to make the best job possible of these models!
