Tamiya's Famo and its conversion possibilities
Posted by atm313 on Thursday, November 4, 2004 4:38 AM
I've got two of the Famo tractors and am looking to build them as different versions. I keep hearing about "the artillery version, or the billstien crane version and so on. I can't find anything but the usual photoetched candidates. Does anyone out ther make resin conversions parts/kits that would allow me to build other varients of this great model? Also any good books on the FAMO? I keep getting refferences about something called "Nuts & Bolts", any idea where this publication can be had?

This is the crane conversion available from TigerModels and written up in various publications.

Sorry, I can't help with any specific FAMO publications.

The above link is the only one on the market (I believe) of the crane. However, there is the SdKfz 9/2 variant with a 10 ton DEMAG crane. Check out AFV Modeller issue 17 for details on a spectacular scratchbuilt piece of said variant.
Can't help you with any specific books, but Google a search, and I'm sure you'll find something useful...

Hi,
Calibre35 are about to release an Artillery tractor conversion set which includes a new rear section with the crew seats and ammo bins much like the Sd.Kfz.7 and this will make a very different looking FAMO.

Cheers
