Always interesting to see how people rate the "best" anything. Best in terms of value/price? Best in terms of quality? Best for a beginner? Best for a veteran? Best for AM stuff availability? Best in terms of options/diversity in one kit? Best old or new release?

All of these open up many doors and paths depending on who you talk to. Wink [;)]

The best tamiya kit is always the latest release. have been building tamiya kits for more than 2 decades. Always thought that the last one I built was the best until their next release. I 've always been amazed on the details that tamiya can pack in their models. The only drawback is their price. Last one I built was the Leopard 2A5 1/35 scale. I just had to buy that when i first saw it and was not dissapointed. I also loved their Challenger 1, M113, Chieftain. However SteelSnail was right, their T-34/85 just was'nt right.

it's the dragon wagon, because it dang near falls together ( comparatively speaking ) and it looks real good sitting on my shelf.

I strongly suggest the m26 Armored Recovery Vehicle. One of the best and most enjoyable kits I've ever built.

Bingo! I won't attempt to pick one kit since so much depends on cost, the modeler's preferences, building style and skill level, whether it will be an OTB or heavy AM build, time availability, etc, etc, etc...

The M26 Pershing was the best build yet and I am not a guy who usually builds US tanks. I have the T-55 and the M26 recovery vehicle waiting to be built, but they both look like excellent kits as well.

I haven't built many tanks but, right now, I'm building a Tiger I Early prod. (item# 35216) and I'm really impressed by the detail and fit. Clear instructions and you have the option to build 6 different tanks. It's not pricey but lacks interior and needs PE grilles to look good. Ah, and comes with a figure.
I also bought the T-34/85 in 1/35 (I think is now discontinued) and was a bit dissapointed.

I vote for the Tamiya T-55. It has great detail and a perfect fit.

Purely subjective opinion, but I like the M26 Armoured Tank Recovery Vehicle. Haven't built it yet, but it sure looks sweet in it's box. Cool [8D]
