Amazingly true. The Germans were the fathers of the Blitzkrieg, but apparently they didn't learn everything from it. You certainally didn't see Patton racing across France with horses.

wow.. i didn't know the horse-drawn convoys were used so widely. But i'll be interesting to have an animal in a war scene.

depends on what the time period this would represent. if it was later in the war, then you might be able to get away with stuff like horse drawn equipment, kubels, or a ketten even.
BTW, tamiya's kubel would be my pick. not sure bout opels tho, sorry.

For this situation, it is very probable that the Germans would be using horse-drawn carts. Dragon makes a horse drawn panzerschreck mover and ammo cart, which I'm sure could be converted to be hauling ammo. I would, however, get someone with the kit to measure the dimensions to make sure the ammo would fit.

It is known that the Germans relied heavily on horse drawn carriage convoys for supply duties. There is the new Italeri kit, as well as some kits by Tamiya. However, as noted above, there were specific vehicles biuld for munitions supply as well. I think the safer choice would be the pony carriages.

Have a look at www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/8141/halftracks.html
The site has some info on the different types of supply vehicles the Germans used.

I also would go for a horse-drawn carriage.

You can get Academy's (or Tamiya's) horse drawn kitchen set and modify the cart.

Good luck.

For your supply vehicle, the Germans could have used anything from a horse-drawn cart, a small towed ammuniton trailer, various trucks and RSOs. Something specialized like a SdKfz 250/6 Munitionspanzerwagen Ausf B, a vehicle custom built to haul 60 rounds of 75mm L/48 ammo, were usually attached to Sturmgeschutz units, but I suppose you could have one doing the rounds if you wanted it to. I'm considering a 1.35 diorama in which a 75mm PaK 40 will be the focus, and a supply vehicle supplying ammo. I was just wondering what kinds of vehicles were used? I have a couple of ideas: Kubelwagen and Opel Blitz. Not sure of any other ones.

BTW, which company makes a good kubels or an Opel?
