Verlinden M1A1 interior
Posted by Cobrahistorian on Friday, May 9, 2003 6:25 PM
Ok, I just got the Verlinden interior for my M1A1 ("ASAP", A Co, 4/64 Armor, 3ID) and I'm a bit confused.... WHERE'S THE GUN BREECH? Its got decent turret interior detail, but there' s no back half of the gun! Does anyone make one or is it scratchbuilding time??? The detail otherwise looks ok, but I'd rather they did a complete turret interior and forewent the bustle racks. Resin machine guns are a nice touch, though. Anyone got any advice?

I did not know that Verlinden made a M1A1 interior. I know that they made a kit for the M1 which is different than a A1. If you have the M1 kit and are going to scratch-build the cannon breech, you might as well do the whole interior by scratch.

The M1A1 interior set is kit #621 and designed for use with the Academy kit, which means it can be used with the Tamiya kit. Includes many exterior parts like the CLAMS, back deck hatches, bustle rack, and machine guns.

It was not designed for the straight M1, but most items could be used on an M1 (not bustle rack), or M1IP (not access hatches). The lack of a breech has been the major complaint as is the lack of the turret basket.

I'm working on the DML USMC M1A1, and it has a rudimentary interior including a breech. I'm afraid mine has already gone into the tank, but maybe someone might have a spare out there somewhere.
