You can go to Archer transfers website and down load a free pattern for filling that space in. I used it on my M4 early. It wasn't exactly right, but it got me into the ball park so I was able to easily modify my sheet styrene as needed.

Tamiya M4A3 Sherman question
Posted by JWest21 on Saturday, November 6, 2004 6:50 PM
I am putting together Tamiya's M43A Sherman and noticed that the area directly above the treads is open into the hull. Would it be correct to simply block this out with some sheet styrene, or is it more involved?
