Band of Brother - What's your favorite episode???
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, November 8, 2004 6:58 AM
Well, I just finished watching Band of Brothers for the 6th time. I was wondering what was your favorite episode?

Mine would have to be a toss up between Crossroads and Why We Fight.

I wish HBO would produce another WWII series. There are a lot of other brave groups of men that fantastic tales could be told.

Other than the one on the Battle of the Bulge, they were all quite good!

djmodels1999, What's the issue with the Bastone episode? I am not an expert so your input is appreciated.

I am partial to the second episode. LT Winters was put up for the CMOH for that attack on the guns but received the Distinguished Service Cross instead because the unit had already received its quota of CMOHs for the time. And that his tactics are still being taught is very impressive.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Tediam, I'm not sure really. Maybe it's because I come from Belgium, lived there and travelled through that particular area lots of times and because as soon as I got the DVD set, I watched that episode first. I had heard lots of great things about the series and that episode did not match my expectations. I realise that we're following a particular unit through time and that, at times, well, those men were not necessarily involved in the most exciting ('exciting' is not really the 'right' word in this case!) fighting. But I had been hoping for 'more', maybe 'more' in terms of the actual way the soldiers and civilians in Bastogne lived that harsh winter. Granted, the Ardennes region looks very much like it was portrayed in the episode, and obviously lots of research went into making sure the whole thing looked like it should have looked in the Ardennes.

All in all, difficult to say why I feel that way about that episode...

I heard not long ago Speilberg was planning on a project detailing a unit in the Pacific...but don't know anything further...

I liked Crossroads as well...

I like them all but perhaps my favorite, if I had to pick one, would be the episode involving the night river crossing and the prisoner snatch.

At the time I watched it, I too hated the Battle of Bulge episode but for a different reason than DJ. During the previous episodes, I grew to really like Wild Bill, and was really saddened when he apparently got killed attempting to drag Joe Toye to safety. I was really happy in the final episode, where they identified the veterans in in interviews, to find out he had actually survived.

I forget the name of it, but the episode where Easy takes out a German artillery position in the trenches and puts TNT in the barrels stands out to me. I might just build a diorama of that scene.
BTW, anyone know what that episode was called??

I think the favorite would be day of days, followed by the episode where Withers led his last attack in charge of easy, When he runs up on the SS Battalions.
