Tiger "experten" - help needed
Posted by crockett on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 6:14 PM
Many of you know that I'm working on the Tamiya 1/25th - I'm currently scratch building much of the interior details left out on this old kit. I've searched all the Tiger websites......what I'm after is an accurate representation of the ammo storage (8.8). The kit parts are simply two armored boxes - I'm sure this isn't right....can anyone help? Is the academy 1/35th Tiger correct in depicting the ammo storage? If someone has a picture it would be a great help...

Thanks,

Steve

The Academy storage is correct in terms of placement but is incorrect regarding the number of rounds. It allows for two side by side when it should be three IIRC.

Close, but it allows for 3 and it should be 4..Wink [;)]

Boxes, get your boxes.

Here are some more interior shots as well;

Early model Tiger, built in Nov. 1942. Fgst. Nr 250031. You'll have to manually cut and paste the second image into your browser to get it to zoom. Why is that?

Also the lower "floor" stowage bins are incorrect. The rear bin is way to small. There was also extra stowage under the turret floor that is not addressed. The forward stowage bins (next to the driver) are off, too small. Academy obviously did not do thier research on Ammo Stowage Wink [;)]

Steve,
Try this site http://www.tiger-tank.com/secure/journal.htm It has a wealth of information, on the Tiger , you are modelling. It is the restoration, of the Tiger 1 , at The Tank Museum , in Bovington ,Dorset , England. Which , by the way is the Tiger , that Tamiya , based their kit on. Happy modelling! This site is also accesible through " The Tank Museum" webpage.
