kubel mounted MG

this is on WW2ModelMaker. its an interesting place to mount an MG, considering that theres not many wyas you can fire it. ive seen MGs mounted on that bar separating the back and front seats, but never like this.

I though i might be able to add this onto my kubel, but the thingis, my kubels gonna be a radio version, so half the back seat is gonna be taken up by the radio stuff. do you think this is viable? or is the other mounting better? or should i just forget the idea for a later build??

I say forget about it for another build. Or if you really want it the bar that separates the front and back seats mounting.
BTW, your right that is a very wierd spot for an MG. They must be planning to retreat!Wink [;)]

Grige88 : The creators of the kubelwagen (Volkswagen and Ferdinand Porsche) design the car that way because usually they use a lot of these vehicles on airfields and it was easy to jump to the rear seats and start firing the enemy or on the road, the other vehicle (the swimwagen) have one in the front on the passenger side for also easy acces because the use the soldiers give them.

Keep on modeling!!

My guess is that it's also positioned that way for AA use...it's got the drum magazine and pintle mount more commonly seen on American vehicles for the same purpose.

reb, romelio, and wbill-
thx for your opinions on this guys.Approve [^] the reason why i was considering this, was because it was an easy build, and because mounting it on the bar separating the front seats from the back, would have made it difficult to maeuver any MG i'd think, as i will have a large radio addition on the right hand side of the back seat. like this-

the fourth shot down on the right gives the best idea of where it will go:

ROMELIO: i already know why they would have a mounted MG in there. its just that from where they mounted it, the only way it could be fired was towarcds the back. firing towards the front is impossible, because you'd have to climb ontot he back bumper to get in position, which is quite dangerous. but thnx none the less. BTW- I will keep modeling, and i hope you do to!!Cool [8D]
