Thanks again everyone for the kind words.

RoyC: Welcome to the forums. I've found this kit in at least two places in the GTA.

Keith's Hobby Shop: http://www.keithshobbyshop.com/
Military Hobbies: http://www.militaryhobbies.ca/
It should be retailing around $35CDN+tax

I have to agree with everyone! This is an interesting subject and nicely built. Inparticular I'm impressed with the hand painted finish in addition to the weathering and rust affects you were able to create. Vey nice job. Semper Fi, mike

Nice to see a different subject now and then. Real fine work and the weathering is quite nice. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.

The rust is actually super cheap and easy to make. The 'usual' formula for making rust is white vinegar and steel wool in a jar (i think) but I found that to be too slow. So I used Javex bleach and steel wool and got a good quantity of rust powder (after pouring the slurry through a coffee filter) to use after only a day. With the powder, you can then wet it again with water and apply it to the model. Cheap, easy, and the resulting rust colour is bang on (duh...) Big Smile [:D]

Well done! Thats a nice job on a neat subject. What did you use for the rust, Rustall? Just wondering, as I have not yet tried to use rust. I just use paint and baking powder. I have built several of the Alan kits, Pzkpfws 1F, IIc and SdKfz 132 Marder II D, and found them to be money well spent. I did put friulmodellismo metal trackson my IIc, but then used the Alan tracks on a Tamiya Panzer II they look good, alot better than the Tamiya tracks.

EX949: Great job, it looks really nice! I like the way you did the rust and for the brand you did a great job, i also have a kit from alan and I haven't started because of the tracks there to small, I'll probably order a set of friulmodellismo metal tracks.

Keep on the good work!

Finished Bison 1... Pix!

Hi everyone.

So I've finished my first foray into russian manufactured kits. This is Alan's 1/35 Bison 1 kit (#0019). It's a good little kit, some flash and seam lines to clean up, nothing too major tho. I found the fit to be pretty good (of course not as good as modern Tamiya and Dragon stuff). Built OOB, handpainted. Also my first time making and applying real rust - it was a lot easier than I thought. My only complaint is the little eeny weeny panzer I indy tracks. Hope you guys like. As always, comments and criticisms are very welcome. Big Smile [:D]
