Kubelwagen blues

I had a similar problem with a KV-1S in small scale. I had it about done, I was decaling the turret, and my Springer decided that it looked like a Christmas cookie. The same kit was on sale at the local hobby shop for $3. As for the Tamiya Kubel, check Ebay, you'd be surprised at what you can acquire for cheap.

BTW, ever try to get Samoyed hair out of a fresh paint job??

I think for the kubel 1 sprue is pretty much the whole kit. Guess Ill have to bite the bullet and buy another kit , saves time and hassle. As for errant pets I should be used to them but they always find ways to surprise me, my cats can open latched doors my dog chewed my mobile phone to death as well as several books. My other cat remains aloof and innocent so I suspect its been her all along.

Even if it doesn't break them of the habit, it sounds really entertaining. My cat got some rolled up masking tape attached to his tail and totally freaked out. He kept trying to run away from it and ended up running into things. it took me about 10 minutes to catch him and remove it (mostly because I couldn't stop laughing)

I trained my cats not to jump on counters and work tables by placing sticky things like double sided tape and lint pickup strips on the surface. Cats hate to walk on anything that sticks to their paws. This can also be good for a bit of entertainment. Sometimes the lint pickups stick to their paws, and if I'm in a mean mood I'll enjoy their antics as they hobble around trying to figure out how to detach themselves from this mysterious and annoying item. After a minute of two of frustration, they usually give up and turn toward me with a meow and a pleading look, at which time I'll take pity on them and remove the strip. After one of these sessions, they usuallly mind their manners for a at least a week or two before they need a another reminder. I've found that it usually takes about two or three sessions to break them of the habit for good.

I have a doggy. She hasnt beaten up my models yet. Knock on wood. But she did chew up my entire set of chalk pastels once.

Sorry to hear about your cat incident, I've learned that lesson as well and now diligently keep the door closed and the work area cat free when I'm not at the bench.

As for your replacement parts, be prepared for a bit of sticker shock. Tamiya doesn't supply individual parts but makes you buy the whole sprue. In some cases the sprue can end up costing nearly the same as the original kit. Just a fair warning when you go talk to your LHS about placing an order.

Ah yes, cats, such curious critters! Keep them and also the bigger doggy's tails away from your fine models.

I am sure to package up my kits so my cats don't get to them.

My cats have broken several of my built kits and made a mess of my worktable once.

I just checked out the Tamiya site and they advise to go to my local supplier and work from there thanks for the tip tho. My cat has a fascination for breaking my models I guess cat owners the world over have to put up with it.

I believe you can contact Tamiya and buy the sprue you need. I bought a sprue for a Messerschmitt a few years back. Try their website. Apparently your cat has something against the kubel?
