So oak, maple and chestnut would all be safe bets?

Most of western Europe that is wooded has a mix of evergreen and deciduous trees not unlike the upper mid west of the United States.

Hello!
Good question , in the Normandy region most of the trees seem to be of the leafy variety . In some areas like the Ardennes , it seems to be mostly , the pine variety.
But having said seem/seems , I would feel safe using either variety, depending on the time of year , though. Check your references , and on the net , I am sure you my find a site that deals with the plant life , trees , of the area , in which you are depicting your model /diorama Happy Modelling !

I was going to place an order today and I wanted to try out Eduard's photoetched tree branches, but I honestly do not know which would be appropriate for Europe, specifically Northern France. Can anyone tell me which common trees are appropriate (eduard has the following:oak; maple/javor; linden/lipa; chestnut/kastan; and locust/akat) Thanks.
