just got the kit a few days ago, and what a beaut it is!! i mean this thing is perfect OOB, no am or PE needed. a turned aluminum barrel, four brass turned rouns, (two HE, two AT i assume). three different types of wheels, three different types of muzzles, two different types of round wheels(new and worn both are vinyl) two ammo boxes, extra rounds in platic, spent rounds, carrying cases for the rounds, and a Heer crew of four, with separate parts for the long overcoats to bypass the prob of excess platic and such, more realisitic it is. truly, an awesome little kit. AND ALL FOR $15!!! seriously, that all it was!!. ill hav ta get a pic of the box, but it just calls out to be built...

I'm drooling already. Sounds like a winner. I'm going to get it hopefully real soon. I want to build it for the 48hr GB.

Hmm, lets wait a bit longer if they realise that they can charge more for their kits and still sell the same amount.

Plus, I think the AM part makers might not be too happy with them.

I really want to try this kit too. A: its $15 cheaper than the AFV club one B: all those Extras! But I did ask for the AFV kit for Christmas, its my stategy, aske for expensive kits, that way you can save money buy buying the smaller cheaper kits! Im brilliant!Tongue [:P]

I've read some very good things about the stuff Dragon is comming out with now. I'm waiting for their Sd.Kfz 251 3-in-1 kit to come out here.
They're just throwing in boatloads of extras, and you know what? They'll get my money for it.

I went looking for the Dragon Pak, and couldn't find in Montreal. I ended up with the AFV Club kit. More expensive, but definitely worth it.

Their website advertises a very reasonable price for their new SdKfz's--and you can get the C or D varient

Glad to see that Dragon is continuing their policy of releasing new kits with the extras included. Will have to add this one to the planned build list for the future. Smile [:)]

Hi, No doubt this is a beautiful kit, all the way around. Very, very nice. And at a great price as well. But at the moment it is gathering cat hair and dust in the closet, along with 3 other new Dragon Sd.Kfz. 251s. Oh well, Such is the attraction of the big Trumpeter T-34s I guess.

But all in good time, all in good time.......

Take care, Sgirty

I saw that kit in the LHS the other day. I was drooling, but my wife vetoed my purchase attempt Shock [:O]. Something about Christmas or some other such nonsense!! Doesn't she understand, I need it NOW!!! Boohoo [BH]

Hi. I couldn't wait any longer and started doing some work on this lovely kit yesterday, just for something different. And it's even better than I thought it would be! I built the whole center main carriage unit in part I, and the wheels. Am going to primer this piece and all 3 sets of wheels today, weather permitting, of course. (The weather here in SW Ohio is starting to get more like winter now and work in my unheated garage is quickly grinding to a a halt. Am now forced to work on a small wooden TV tray back in a corner of my bedroom. Ah, such are the trials and tribulations of the hobby I guess!) My but those parts are small!!!!!!! But the model gods have been smiling down on me and I didn't lose a singe part, so far that is.

Dragon gets a real 'thumbs up' from me on this kit. I also see that Dragon is going to release the German Sd.Kfz. 251 flame thrower halftrack here before too long. Good show! Now we just need them, or Trumpeter, to bring out a 1/16 scale Sd. Kfz. 251!!!!!!!Wow, that's almost too much to wish for!

Take care, Sgirty

Hi, Just a progress report on this kit. It is turning out to be everything I had hoped it would be. Very nice, very nice indeed. Lots and lots of great detail, but some of the parts are quite small! So one has to be VERY careful in handling them. I am spraying mine a panzer grey.

Have the lower carriage all put together and painted and it looks great.

But like all kits there is most likely a small glitch in it someplace or other (something I've come to expect, if not in their kit proper, than in their instructions). But, nothing is perfect. And I think I might have found one here in steps -6 and-7. You will notice there there is a half-moon shaped protrusion of plastic sticking out of parts B-26 and -27. These are where (for lack of a better word here, the shock supports go, parts B-51 and -52. Inside these pieces is a half-moon cavity that is supposed to fit over those half-moon extensions on -26 and -27. Unfortunately, at least in this kit, the half-moon areas do not line up, as the solid plastic areas of these half-moon are on the same side! Have checked and re-checked this just in case I had the wrong parts on the wrong side, but unfortunately this is how it is.

Luckily the lower supports, B-24 and -25, that fit ont part B-42, fit in very well to the bottom of the gun sub-assembly put together in step 6. So it should be no real problem to custom fit the problem parts together, those mentioned above, once the lower parts are on the main gun assembly.

Could be this kit I got was an early one and the later kits have been corrected, but if not, this is something to be aware of in any case. It's no big problem, but just thought you should know about it nonetheless.

Take care, Sgirty

Doubtful...once a kit is out and released, the amount of time required to re-tool a mold is too large. Dragon, like everyone else, needs that kit out on the market as quickly as possible in order to make a profit from it. I bought the kit a couple of days ago, and agree, it's an awesome release from Dragon.

I scored a Sovereign (read: expensive resin) SdKfz 11/1 the other day, and I got the Pak 40 simply because I wanted something to tow behind this halftrack. It's looking like it'll be an awesome combination once it's all together. I do need to research and make sure the 11/1 was capable of pulling the Pak 40, I may have to break down and get the Dragon 50mm ATG instead...(now THAT's a good excuse!).

Hi, Jeff: Just checked into some information of whether the Sd. Kfz. 11/1 could tow the Pak 40. According to "Militarfahrzeuge of the Wehrmacht", by Ryton Publications: "They served mainly with artillery units towing the 10.5 cm light field howitzer or the ammunition trailer. During the later war years, it was frequently used to tow the 7.5 cm and 8.8 cm Pak AT guns." It must have been a pretty robust little vehicle as I think that the 8.8 cm Pak weighed in somehwhere around 4 tons.
