The M1A1HA ( Heavy Common ) was the main type of tank that fought alongside the M1A2 in OIF. The APU is mainly located on the rear hull right hand side but i think i have seen them up in the stowage racks. Not to sure bout that but. Thats what i wanted to find out before i put this thing together???

Sorry to confuse ya there.

Right rear location was an M1IP and M1A1 early feature. Heavy commons went to the bustle rack mounted APU, but not all heavy commons had an APU.

I thought the APU on the rear of the hull was decomissioned a few years ago most all of the APU's on M1A1,M1A1HA, and M1A2's in Iraq will have the APU's mounted in the bustle rack, Oh sorry Thats pretty much what rob said.

It goes on the rear of the turret, left of center. This pic was taken in September, and it's common of USMC M1A1HA's used in OIF
