M1A1 M2/M240 color
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, November 26, 2004 2:33 PM
I bought an Academy M1A1, and I am now putting the M2 and M240 together. The instructions say to paint them 'Gun Metal' which I thought was a grayish color. I thought the M2 and 40 were black, not gray. Any suggestions?
Also, I am looking for modern American tank crewmen 1/35. If you know were I can pick some up, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
Mike.

The M240 is black, the M2 is a gun metal/dark gray color depending on the age of the machine gun.

The Major is spot on, the M240 is black and the M2 is gray (parkerised). The Tamiya modern armor accessary kit has a couple of late model tankers in it. You might try Verlinden productions as well.

Beav, it's an M3A1 sub-machine gun. It wasn't a normal item on M1 series tanks, Though the M48 and M60 series carried two of them on each tank. Must be a manufacturer mistake or it's possible they used a photo for reference and one of the guys in the photo is actually from the M88 crew, they were still carrying M3's when I was in.
