what to build?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 2, 2004 6:45 PM
I need an idea of an armor model to build, 1:35, preferably Tamiya. It also needs to be under $35 including shipping/tax. I know this makes for a limited window, but does anyone have a good suggestion.

Well, that only narrows it down to 100 or more kits that are probably readily available. It really depends on you. If you want a fairly simple build with minimal flaws, any of Tamiya's Tiger I kits are outstanding and available for right around $35.00...maybe a couple dollars more. The Tamiya King Tigers are about $30.00. There are just so many!

If you really want a challenge, you can probably pick up 3, 4, or even 5 of the older Tamiya offerings for under $35.00 total, but you'll have to work on these kits a lot more than the recent stuff. Like I said, it's really up to you and what you like.

Well I just completed the Tamiya M3 Lee kit. I think it turned out pretty good for my experience level. I picked it up for something like 16 bucks or so. I have also been looking at the new Academy M3 Stuart. I am going to pick it up as soon as I get my M3 Book.

Too bad you missed Greatmodels 40% off sale. There were many kits available. I think you can get their Wespe for about that price. It's a nice little buildup and doesn't take alot of shelfspace. Their Panzer III L might fit the budget also. If you want something less expensive, the T-34/85 is simple and fits nicely under your budget. Good luck, let us know what you're getting.

How about a Stug III or IV. They look good and they're rather inexpensive. My brother just finished the Tamiya Stug IV and it came out great. good luck with whichever kit you choose.

I would go with a Dragon or Marqette kit both are pretty good and a little bit of a challage to build. This will proved hours of build time also you can find some of there kit well under $20.00 and might be able to buy two under $30.00 with shipping cost.Digger
