Searching for a LVS in 1/35 if one has been made
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 2, 2004 11:48 PM
Hey Guys!
Well in case I never said it before, I am a US Marine. I have been in for just a tad under 4 years and my father in law couldn't be prouder. He is always wanting me to send him things with the Marine Corps logo on it. Every time I talk to him he always wants me to tell him war stories about Iraq or anything that has to do with the military. He was one of those guys that tried to enlist (at 54 years old) after September 11th. Well I reenlisted a couple of months back. He couldn't have been happier (even if I am taking his daughter to japan for the next 3 years). I have been trying to think of what could be a good christmas present to get him.

To make a long story short. I drove an MK48 LVS from Kuwait up into Tikrit. He loves hearing the story about how I got seperated from my battalion and spent 8 days in the desert trying to make my way to tikrit without any other vehicles or support. He tells all his buddies the story and makes it sound like I should get the Medal of Honor or something. I thought if I could find a model of the LVS that I could make it look like the one I drove and give it to him for Christmas. If anyone knows of a kit that I might pick up, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. I have looked and looked and all I can find is a small scale one for something like 60 bucks.

Thanks in advance for your help. This forum is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I don't know what I would do without it.

Ben

*EDIT* Here are a few pictures of what I am looking for

No LVS model out there that I know of. There is the M977 HEMTT from Italeri that you could convert into an LVS. They are basically the sama base vehicle. Here is Italeri's M977.

Available at Great Models Webstore for about $28.00.

HeavyArty,
Thanks for the help. I figured there might not be one since I haven't turned up anything after 4 days of looking. I am not sure how I would go about converting the HEMTT since the LVS turned its trailers with hydrolics. I honestly don't think my skills are high enough to be able to scratch build things of that nature. Then there would be the issue of coming up with the trailers for it. I tandem towed the one I drove with a 20' Iso container on the first trailer and I had a 5k TEREX forklift we found broken down on the back trailer. I guess I might of set my sights too high but I thought it would make a great christmas present (even if it was late).

Thanks for the info though

I hate to bump my post but if anyone else can think of a model LVS even if it isnt in 1/35. I would greatly appreciate any input you had. I have searched left and right and have found nothing so far other than one micro sized LVS that I can't seem to locate anymore.

Thanks SO much
Ben
