Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 6, 2004 10:25 PM
Just got the DML 251C 3in1 kit. The one for the 251. Can be made into the ordinary 251/1 or 251/7 or the 251/10. WOW, lots of extra parts. My spare parts box overflows!!!

Photo etch, rubber uniforms, boots, and metal gun for the 37mm.

Inside the kit is a jacket and two pair of boots. Made of very soft plastic (rubber??). You can put it on seat or engine deck. Looks like crew took off uniform to go swimming ect. Really nice looking!!

I paid $33.00 at my local hobby store.
This thing is really outstanding. The directions are somewhat confusing.
This is one kit that requires close attention.
I was going to wait for the AFV, but after seeing all the extras, I just had to pick up the Dragon. I forgot to mention you also get 4 engineers and lots of equipment/supplies.

I have one on order at my LHS, I can't wait to get it, if for anything, than just for the extras alone.

I bought mine at my LHS for $33. It's a great kit and the extra parts make the kit a great deal. I agree with Panzerman, the instructions for the different variants are a little confusing. I think a better way would have been inserts that are separate from the main instructions. Similar to what DML and Tamiya have done to show multiple paint and marking schemes. The field jacket in the kit is a fallschirmjager (sp?) tunic. I wonder if any of the parts could be used with other 251 kits, like the Tamiya kit.

I have already out-line the instructions I will be following. I "X" out the parts I will not be following with a blue "High-lighter". I have the old Tamiya 251C, the newer Tamiya 251D, the AFV 251D, and now the DML 251C.

IMO-- Nothing is usable from the OLD Tamiya 251C except maybe the front wheels (thicker then AFV), and the rear seats (different kind).

The 251 by AFV is a "D" and the 251 from DML are "C's". The AFV lower chassy is very complicated. Also be careful cutting from sprue, some parts have attachment points that do not show well on sprew (I cut a few off by accident--not hard to fix but still a PITA). The running gear alone is over 30 pieces and that is only the track part not counting wheels!!!
