M1 Abrams AGDS?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 12:24 AM
Anyone heard of this? From what I have read it was a Highly experimental air-defense system equipped w/ retractable missle bay and two large anti-aircraft guns much like the Sgt. York system. Just wondering if you guys know where I could get some more images or sketches of this thing since it never made it as a prototype this is all I have been able to find, Im really wanting to try to scratch build it using an abrams hull an scratch building the turrett let me know if Im getting in to deep

Cool [8D]

I think you could do it off of what you have right there. I mean, who is going to say you are wrong?!

I am building one using a Sgt. York turret and old Tamiya M1 (A-nothing) hull. As far as I know, it does not exist, but I was doing it as a "what if" project.

I recall reading something of this a couple of days ago. The turret shape seems very simple, very close to the Sgt. York, so you can either try a scratchbuild, as it would probably be simple, or do as Mr. Gronovius is doing.
The place you got the pic allows you to turn the image 360 degrees, so you can get a good impression of just what to work for.

Seems like an interesting project, and not too difficult to do either. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.
