What I like to see in new armor kits for sale
Posted by diggeraone on Thursday, December 9, 2004 1:01 AM
After researching some webs on Russain armor,I would like to see some of these companys make two kits of the newest Russian tanks.I would not care if the Russains put them in full production or not but I still like to see a kit made of these two.The Black Eagle and the T-94,so what about you. What would you like to see made in the modern armor line?Digger

A French Leclerc made by someone other than Heller, I hear one is in the works from Tamiya but I'll believe it when I see it.

I agree with both of you! I would love to do the Eagle from Russia and the French LeClerc looks like a great build too. I am waiting on a kit of the new Army deuce and a half. I have a few pics of it from a buddy in Germany, but I want the kit!

The Leclerc has been officially announced by Tamiya and is on their website. Release is slated for Spring, 2005.

Here's the link:

You'll either have to trust me or start studying Japanese!Wink [;)]

Go all the way to the bottom of the page, and look at the smaller box. The Leclerc is the only one that has "1/35MM" in it.

Haven't I heard somewhere on this forum that Tamiya isn't going to produce new armor-kits anymore ??? At least not in 1/35 ???

I'd have to say a decent PzKfw 38(t) would be nice. Any pics of the Black Eagle? I'm not familiar with that one.

The T-90 and the Black Eagle have been listed as upcoming releases by a couple of eastern european countries for a couple of years now. I would like to see a retooled T-62 and a line of Centurions. The resin Centurions are nice, but too expensive for my wallet. Some WW2 U. S. halftracks would also be appreciated.

I think that it is joking speculation Dan. With all the resources Tamiya is pumping into their new 1/48 line, members are thinking that they are abandoning 1/35.

Well, the Tamiya boys told me at "Tamiya Fair" in October that they will be "focusing their energies" on the new 1/48 armor line, which is being handled by the same staff that does their 1/35 line, so for the foreseeable future 1/35 releases would be scarce. That's what they said. They DID NOT say that they weren't ever going to produce 1/35 kits. Glad to see that's true!
I think a 1/35 Leclerc is an excellent choice, and I eagerly await its release.

Speaking as a Braille Scale builder, I'd like to see the M-26 Pershing released in 1/72 scale, as well as an M109 Paladin. These are kits that have been seriously ignored by the Braille Scale manufacturers. Even when they come out with far more esoteric subjects, they bypass those! I don't know....

kaleu, ACE already has a 1/72 scale T-90 released already. A 1/35th scale one can't be far behind.

a black eagle is too much to hope for. i mean there's virtually nothing on this type. a good t-90 would be extremely appreciated though... especially with decals to make it indian army...

In a word, quarterscale. Yes, 1/48 scale. I actually stopped doing 1/35 scake armor because my collection just took up too much space. After building a fair number of 1/48 aircraft, I was further disenchanted with the scale because it was out of sync with my aircraft collection. I too had collected a number of the old Bandai kits because of the scale, but they started to command collectors prices, and the details always seemed to need some, some more or a lot of refinement depending on the kit. So they sat on the shelf.

Lately I have built a few old Bandia's lately using Track48 details, and they come out nice, BTW. So I couldn't be more pleased to see the scale making a resurgance. I hope we will see a plethora of kits, but to start with the Sherman family, including the M-3, the M-10 and the Priest, a complete set of the German panzers (we have the Tiger so far), from Mk. 1 through the Royal Tiger, assault guns, allied and axis trucks and jeeps, Stuarts, Churchills, and the list goes on. They are definitely a collectable scale. So bring 'em on I say.

I'm a "oldies" person myself. How about a good PZ II, or a PZ IV D, and E.
US M3 halftrack would be cool to.
