I bought the Tamiya one not too long ago and it appears to be a really nice kit. Unfortunately, it's the only Humvee I have, so I cannot give you much of a comparison

Yes- forgot to mention that the Tamiya's aren't cheap. I got lucky and found one at the LHS mispriced at $22.

Italeri HMMWVs are good models (fit well, build nicely) but are not nearly as accurate as the two new Tamiya ones. Beware of the old Tamiya HMMWV w/M242 Bushmaster. It is an old Italeri kit.

Academy kits are decent as well but Tamiya's are better.

I have the Tamiya Armaments Carrier and there was a review awhile back in FSM. Haven't cracked the box, but the review was good.

Tamiya makes the best kits followed by the Academy kits.

Well, don't sell the Academy submissions short. For the price of the Tamiya kit, you can get the Academy one AND a really nice aftermarket set-up! Or you could go with the Trumpeter ones (which are just Academy knockoffs IMO) and do the same thing with the aftermarket stuff for even LESS money.

I have built one Tamiya Hummer and many Academy and Trumpeter kits and I must say there is really no difference in the build. All of them go together quickly. However, when you get the Academy or the Trumpeter ones you feel less restrained in kitbashing or modifying because you have less money invested.

I have 2 of the Tamiya M1025 Humvee kits, and 3 of the Academy kits (M997 Ambulance, M966 Tow Missile Carrier and the M998 Troop Carrier) and while I haven't built any of them yet, they all look fantastic. I think any of these would be a good choice, as others have said.
