snow and mud?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, December 12, 2004 12:11 PM
I recently bought the Dragon 1/72 Leopard 2A6 and I was planning to make a little diorama of a winter manover. Now my question: which are the best ways to simulate mud and snow?

Thanks for the help in advance

Well Joe there are many ways of doing this.1 you can crush up chaulk and white elmers glue. With this method al you have to do is to apply the glue where you want the snow.Once the glue is applyed sprinkle your chaulk heavily over the glued areas. When this drys then shake over a trash can any excess that did not stick and reapply the same way again as many times as you want untill you get what you are looking for.You can use chaulk in many different colors to get the look of mud or snow or even a grassy meddow.2 is using white glue and applying it thickly all over the areas you want done to make it look muddy or snowy.Once this is dry you can use a seires of washes to get the color that you want.3 you will find a lot of items in you house that you can use to make the things you want like baby powder, corn meal, coffee, sugar, sewing thread, and a hoist of others that just laying around begging to be used.I hope this helps you out,Digger

For snow I use baking soda. For mud I just use glossy brown paint mixed with some real dirt.
