Guns of Navarrone

I know this has nothing to do with what your after and I'm sorry, but last time I saw that movie I noticed that one of the Trucks the Greman's had, on the tailgate was writen DODGE, then in the next scene it was driving around with the tailgate down.

Also since this is an Armour room and with all the messages about what is the best tank film. In "Force 10 From Navarrone" at the end there is the scene with the German tanks (T34's LOL) crossing the bridge that gets knocked down by the water. That would make a cool Diorama aswell.

Since you guys have been talking that reminded me of a great movie I haven't seen in a long time, "Where Eagles Dare" with Clint Eastwood. Great movie! There is some nice diorama shots in that as well.

Even in 1/72 scale this would be a huge project to build. Just the land mass of the cliffs themselves would be a rather daunting task. As for the guns there are no kits available that I know of so scratchbuilding you will go. And keep your hands off my putty.

How about 1/350 scale?
If my memory serves me correctly at the end of the movie just after the guns blew up battle ships and frigites were passing the cliffs whaling their sirens in celebration.
In that scale you could find model ships,your diorama would be of managable size,and the fortess would be easy to build.
Most of all you could be the only guy on your block who has incorporated armor and ships in to a diorama that fit to scale.
Two draw back however, you will be hard pressed to find figures and vehicles in that scale.

Where Eagles Dare, a very good movie, who doesn’t love Clint Eastwood?? But I have to say that the German helicopter did not make for the most accurate movie, BUT still a GREAT movie.

Oh yah, and The Guns of Navarrone, perhaps you could pick up the original book at the library. Maybe the author said something about what type of specific guns they were. Im sure with a little research you could find some plans, or kits you can use to build them.

I was talking with some movie buffs and gun enthusiasts and they all agree that those things were 14" guns. That is equal to 350mm!!! HOOAH!!! Maybe I could start with the barrels from a battleship and bash from there. Pass the putty, please....
