Trying to get back into the hobby, need advice.

Try the tamiya sherman. Single color scheme, easy assembly, glue together tracks, just a fun alround enjoyable kit. Happy Bill

I'd go with simplicity. Try a Sherman, Panzer IV, etc. Nothing with camoflage, that can be hard at first. Really, the best kits to start with are what looks cool, ineteresting, and fun to you because you will enjoy building it the most, and that is what is best to start with.

maybe try starting with 1/72 or 1/76 scale tanks. O try the kits made by Kitech, if you can find them, as they are cheap and not too bad and are in 1/48 scale. www.kiuhung.com is there web site.

Tamiya M5A1 Stuart or the Italeri Hetzer are good starts. The Stuart is a one color project, simple and a nice weekend project. The Hetzer you can do a multi-color scheme, don't follow the box example of tank painting. Out in the field, tankers applied their own paint and camo schemes, go nuts on the Hetzer.

Welcome back. I got back into the hobby about 10 yrs ago. Started w/ 1/72 Luftwaffe then went over to 1/35 WW2 stuff.

The hobby has certainly changed since I was a kid. Great (I mean satisfying) kits that are terrific OOB are these for starters:

Tamiya King Tiger, Production Turm (new production version)
Tamiya Tiger I early production or Afrika Tiger
Tamiya Steyr 1500
Tamiya Cromwell
Tamiya Marder III (either version)
Tamiya M4, early prod Sherman
DML Panther A or D
DML Elefant or Ferdinand
DML T-34/85


All have high levels of precise engineering and are very accurate just OOB (of course, ALL of them have their tweaks for the super-detailer).

You may want to try the 1/35 Tamiya Walker Bulldog. That's a pretty good kit that's avialable, cheap, single color scheme etc. etc. You can also buy detail sets for it that aren't too expensive, and their are some conversion for for 80's and 90's upgrades floating around as well. Honestly any older Tamiya kit will not do you wrong. Hope this helps. Brett

I use to play the game warhammer but then i stopped and now im starting to paint Armoured and auto's but im painting a M41 Bulldog, and ive sprayed it (using spray cans, soo ill get air brush) but my question is: How do you get those highlights? Like at the edges? do you use a brush and get a bit lighter colour and dry brush it? Im sorta newbie to armomured=P

Many of the headlights you see in mags, etc. have been drilled out and filled with either epoxy or MV lenses. Good luck.

the panzers are really cool, and the jagdepanzer is really cool!
I started building last May, so a can deal with some stress and now it seems my miny battalion is going to take over?
plus the tracked vehicles are fairly easy to build and if you make a mistake, just cover it up with some mud and then you have a pretty killer scene.
