Armor Websites? Any out there?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, June 1, 2003 4:29 PM
Hey guys,
I'm an aircraft modeler making my first steps into armor.
What websites are out there dedicated to armor?
I'm into 1/72 tanks between aircraft builds.
Thanks
Bernie the K.

My first two builds, both Italeri/ ex-ESCI

Bernie, follow the link in my signature. We have a pretty good site at Armorama.com. I'm one of the forum moderators, editors and maintain the photo gallery of modern US equipment. If you do a search of features at that site, I did an article about building the 1/72 scale Italeri M1and accurizing it. The kit won a trophy earlier this year and the article is called "Building a Bantam Abrams."

I'll second Major Robin's vote on Armorama Bernie.

Also a couple of other sites that I think are great are:

AFV Interiors - a great site but soon to be closed
http://www.kithobbyist.com/AFVInteriors/

AFV News - great all around armour site
http://www.activevr.com/afv/

Tanks 2 Scale - tons of pics
http://www.seedwiki.com/page.cfm?doc=Tanks2Scale&wikiid=92

There's plenty of sites out there that deal with armour. Easiest way is to pick a vehicle and do a search for it.

By the way ... great looking work on your first foray into armour.

Not too bad at all for an armour rookie Wink [;)]

A couple of other good armor modelling websites are:
www.missing-lynx.com
www.track-link.net
Erik "Don't fruit the beer." Newest model buys: More than I care to think about. It's time for a support group.

The Federation of American Scientists has a good site, It is hit or miss on some vehicles though most of the galleries are really good for exterior shots and interior drawings.
