                        Does somebody know what's the proper name for those kind of antennas most German cars WWII did have (the left one with the mirror attached to it). A friend of mine told me they were used to test the clearance between the vehicule and a narrow pass when it was going through to avoid getting stuck.

                        my friend is married to a german, I could try to get him to ask his father in law?
                        I don't know if I'll see him soon though, I just got attatched to my perminant battery.

                        I don't know the name for them, but they are used to give the driver an indication of where his fender limits are. Streets are narrow in Europe and it helps to know how far your front bumper sticks out. Similar things are still in use on larger vehicles like cement mixers.

                        Major G has hit the gist of it. On tactical vehicles them were often painted white on the ends to help passing vehicles see the size of the vehicle they were passing. So as to avoid an accident. I have no idea what they are called, I usually call them broken just after getting them off the sprue.
