I've got one about half built. The shapes (particularly the angle of the front glacis) and details are way off, but it looks enough like a Tiger II. The interior, although incomplete and somewhat clunky, is decent. The individual link tracks are connected by metal pins, and look OK (but a little too "square"). There are lots of compromises in the detail and shapes due to the remote control gear.

I've seen some of these old kits turned into very accurate models with a ton of work, but OOB it's very inaccurate.

Still, it pretty much looks like a Tiger II!

I picked mine up four years ago for about $25 USD, but I just saw one in an LHS going for about $100. They've been disontinued for about 10 years now, so prices are climbing.

My half-built kit is buried under a bunch of other kits in the closet, so it'll take me a while to unbury it, take a few pix, and post 'em.
Not much to see, really...I stopped working on it after I realized just how inaccurate it was. I just wasn't prepared to put in the work necessary to "fix" it!
Funny, now I'm spending about four hours a day "fixing" the old Aurora 1/48 MBT70!
Maybe I'll get back to that ol' Tiger II one of these days.

Hello Piter!!
I built one of these when it was new,in 1973...even then it was a big
disappointment..poor fit,I had to cut down the entire engine compartment
to get the top of the hull on,and when I was finally done,it just didn't
look like a KIng Tiger!!!Like J-Hulk described..I would pass on this one,
or if you already have it,sell it to someone else!!! Roowalker

Sorry Piter, not yet...digging that old boy out isn't as easy as it sounds!
Then I have to take the pix...then post 'em...

Suggestion:
Do a Google or Yahoo search for "1/24 Bandai King Tiger" and I'm sure you'll come across a ton of pix! Wink [;)]

1 have the 1/24th bandai king tiger, jagdpanther and panther g, all unbuilt.  I also have an unbuilt Tamiya 1/25 panther a.  These were in the attic for a long time, probably from the early 70s!  I have looked over these kits and compared them to pictures of the real tanks, and a visit to the Aberdeen Tank museum and can say that the Tamiya Panther has errors in the size of the periscope openings and the commander's cupola.  The Bandai kits actually look pretty accurate and the interiors particularly the engine bay are very good.  Am I missing something?  The tracks for the Tiger B and the Panther (Bandai) are well  made and hold up even today as do the turret interiors and road wheels which have separate rubber tires.  Tracks are fairly accurate and are separate pieces connected with metal pins. Could someone tell me what in particular about these kits makes them not worth building?  I have not measured out the angles for the armor,  but the weld lines are accurate for the armor thickness.  The Tamiya Panther A, however appears to have the angle of the glacis wrong and the overall length of the tanks looks to be off.

Hi, I recently bought the Bandai 1/24 King Tiger.  It was mixed up with a Tamiya 1/25 Tiger I and there wasn't any instructions.  Would anyone be able to provide a copy of the Bandai King Tiger Instructions?  I will gladly pay for xerox and mailing, or, quote me a price.  Regards, Victor (P.S. I sell on

I built the King Tiger and Jagdpanther back about 1977. I sold the King Tiger many years ago but still have the Jagdpanther in my collection. As I recall, both Bandai kits had the same interior, which is totally incorrect. The Gun mount for the Jagdpanther is missing a lot of details. The Maybach engines look pretty decent. The tracks also look decent except for the mold marks on the inside that have to be filled and sanded. You would have to do a lot of scratchbuilding to have a decent interior for both. The exterior lacks some details that can be added. Sorry but I don't have the instructions for the KT.

Hi Piter, My email is yn1scribe@aol.com.  I didn't mention it before, but, I'm looking for the instructions for the static kit, not the RC kit.  I hope that's what you have.  My best friend (he tells me this) is from Poland, Lodz (i hope the spelling is correct).  Regards, Victor

That's the problem with the old kits.  They were state of the art back then, and we loved them.  Put in a few lights and a battery, WOW.  With nothing else to compare them to. They were the only tanks on the market at that time that even tried to put in an interior.  You have to remember they only cost around twenty bucks.  I wish someone would come back out with 1/24 armor with as much working detail.  1/16 is just too big and expensive, even without the remotes, which I can live without.

Yes , sure I would like to see pics of lots 1-25 and 1-24 scale models.I`m very happy to hear ,that Italeri planes to edit Oplel Blitz (high boards) and other vehicles this year.

By thge way ,Vs will release 1-24 KT (both version) this or next year. This way ,as their tanks are Rc the tracks will be workable ,and possible to check at Bandai Tiger.

When I left the house in Washington that I had lived in for the last 20 years, and moved into my yunger brothers house in San Diego, my yunger brother dropped this one---so this picture is all that remains of it.  This post riefers to the Bandia 1/48th. Tiger-2  picture.
