Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 13, 2003 4:49 AM
Hi guys,

Need ur help again regarding my King Tiger in Berlin diorama. I would like to have a diorama big enough to put 2 tanks on it (King Tiger and Tiger 1 or T-34/85,I haven't decide yet!) which will also include a base,if possible.Any recommendations??

Also,I need decals for my King Tiger in Berlin.Does anyone know where to get decals for King Tiger ?I tried to search before, but can't seem to fine one...

Also, someone recommended to me about Munchberg Panzer Division, can anyone tell me more about this division and its markings??

Thanks guy! I owe you all big time!!

Hi shogun...... ok the size your diorama will end up, obviously depends on the size of base you will use...and the distance between the two models on it!. if they are say side by side then you will not need as big a base........
as for decals for the king tiger.....why not try handpainting them on ....at the time of the war you speak of ..most tanks left the factories without unit markings...wearing just the base coat,,,,cammo patterns and unit markings were usually painted on by their crews.or a maintainance unit... make a few simple templates..and practice on a scrap model this way of applying numbers and insignia..can be very effective....as for the munchberg panzer division ...i cant seem to find any reference to it ..in my materiel here at home[ and being a big fan of ww2 german armour... i have a lot of it ] ...i am intrigued however and will do a bit of trolling on the web and get back to you....
REGARDS...

At the moment I cann't find to much info on the Munchberg Panzer division. Here is what I've got so far. It was commanded by a General Mummert, my reference states that it fought at Tempelhof airport amongst the wreckage of Folke- wulf fighters. It was also at the Tiergarten where it tried to push to the Olympic Stadium. I have to go now. Will try and find more info for you over the weekend.

Weekends fly by don't they? This is all I could find in my references, The Munchberg Panzer Division was raised in the last few weeks of the war. It came under Army Group Vistula. It was called a division but was way below it's complement of men and machines. It had only a handful of tanks and barely enough vehicles to carry it's wounded. Yet it fought very well during the defense of Berlin. Most of the credit being given to the skill of its commanding general Mummert. Mummert disappeared in the rubble of Berlin on May 3rd 1945. I doubt this division would of even had a division symbol. But I'll keep looking for you. Take Care Mike
